Our journey began with our founder, who, like many in the UAE, grew up in a multicultural environment that celebrates diverse flavors, cuisines, and dining experiences. From an early age, he found joy in food and the stories that come with each dish, from street-side shawarma stalls to luxurious fine dining. As he grew older, he became fascinated not just with tasting food but also with sharing experiences and writing about them. Reviewing restaurants became a personal passion, and he soon became the go-to person among friends and family for recommendations on where to eat

But there was more to his vision than just reviewing restaurants. He dreamed of launching his own restaurant, one that would celebrate the UAE’s rich tapestry of flavors and provide a welcoming space for people from all backgrounds. It wasn’t just about creating a business; it was about giving back to the community where he had spent so much of his life. However, as he grew up and his path took him abroad for studies, he realized the timing wasn’t quite right to start a restaurant.Studying abroad expanded his worldview even more. He was introduced to new flavors, new food scenes, and innovative ways of sharing food experiences. But as much as he loved exploring food scenes in other countries, he remained connected to the food culture of the UAE and always felt it calling him back. He knew his dream of opening a restaurant would need to wait until he could fully commit, and so he set his sights on an alternative: creating a community that would connect food lovers, reviewers, and adventurers like himself. That’s where the idea for Timp was born.

While studying, he encountered a mentor, a respected figure in the F&B world who had launched a famous restaurant. Spending time with this mentor gave him deeper insight into the intricacies and challenges of the food and beverage industry. He saw the persistence, passion, and creativity that went into building a successful dining experience. More importantly, he realized that despite economic challenges or changing trends, the food industry wasn’t going anywhere. People would always seek places to eat, connect, and share memories.

This realization inspired him to think even bigger. He began to wonder: what if there was a way for people like him to share their food experiences with others in a meaningful, community-driven way? What if there was a platform specifically for people passionate about finding and sharing the best of what the UAE’s culinary scene has to offer? And so, Timp evolved from being a personal dream into a community-focused platform where food lovers could connect, share, and discover.The Timp app was created as a place for all things food-related. It’s designed to help users find personalized recommendations based on what they love, keep track of where they’ve been and where they still want to try, and discover both popular hotspots and hidden gems across the UAE.
